Ice cube trays, not just for ice anymore! From flavored ice to sushi to mini-cheesecake, discover some of the creative ways you can save time and money using the ice cube tray.
• Mini sushi. These could easily be made in the ice cube tray. Here is a link to a very helpful site that I found. Lunch In A Box There are so many possibilities and variations of this. Veggie and non-veggie options.
• Mini popsicles or juice pops. Filling ice cube trays with your favorite juice or kool-aid, cover with tinfoil then poke toothpicks through the tinfoil and freeze. Remove tinfoil and enjoy!
• Bite sized jello snacks. Prepare jello according to the package. Fill ice tray about half way and chill til set. Add some small pieces of fruit. Add another flavor of jello to fill, chill until set. ( Cherry & Lime would make a nice combination ). Take great care in removing them from the tray, run a knife along the edge to help them come out easier.
• Chocolate Treats. A little melted chocolate and a variety of goodies to add to the chocolate. This can be customized to whatever suits your mood. A small amount of vegetable spray in the ice cube tray will help release the chocolates. Peanut butter, caramel, nuts, berries, the possibilities are endless.
• Champagne Chillers. All you need is the champagne and berries, such as raspberries or strawberries. Fill tray about 3/4 full add a berry to each and freeze. Must freeze at least 24 hours. Add to orange juice or cranberry juice, anything that blends nicely with champagne.
As ideas come to me, or I run across more I'll be sure to update this.
